Before I go into that though, I\u2019d like to begin with a little background on Mickey Rourke.<\/p>\n
The decision to turn pro as a boxer would be a disastrous one for Mickey Rourke.\u00a0 But the disaster didn\u2019t come from his record as he won 6 fights and fought to a draw in his other two bouts. \u00a0Instead, the disaster was the fact that he suffered numerous injuries such as a broken nose, ribs, toes, a split tongue, compressed cheekbone, and short term memory loss.\u00a0 By the time Rourke got back to acting, he had to have reconstructive face surgery done and was barely recognizable due to the poor plastic surgery performed on him.<\/p>\n It would be years before Rourke ever landed another prominent role and it wasn\u2019t until The Wrestler <\/em>that people have begun to think Rourke has regained his star power.\u00a0 Of course getting back to this point was hell and hell was culminated by what he had to do to fill the role of Randy \u201cThe Ram\u201d Robinson.\u00a0 To play Robinson, Rourke had to not only undergo 4 months of intense wrestling practice, but he also had to bulk up from 192 pounds to 245.<\/p>\n Even more interesting is that Rourke is 56 years old which makes it seem impossible that he could perform the feat of adding 43 muscular pounds in just 6 months time.\u00a0 And going beyond just Rourke and Jackman, there have been plenty of other dramatic Hollywood body transformations from actors like Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt, Christian Bale, and Sylvester Stallone packing on huge amounts of muscles in short amounts of time.<\/p>\n The truth is though that I could care less if these actors are using steroids in order to look the part.\u00a0 In fact, I encourage it because I want to see these people fill the roles they were meant to as much as the next guy.\u00a0 However, I think that it\u2019s a huge double standard when the media ignores the possibility of movie stars using steroids when the sport of bodybuilding is chastised for juicing.<\/p>\n What\u2019s more is the question of whether or not the law holds stars in a different regards from you and I since we would be going to jail for getting caught with roids.\u00a0 In the meantime, Sylvester Stallone gets away with a fine from the Australian government after getting caught with 41 vials of HGH in his suitcase.<\/p>\n I guess the answer lies in the fact that people don\u2019t really care as much about actors juicing because they are entertainers.\u00a0 As long as an actor can captivate an audience and fit the role they\u2019re meant to, nobody cares how they got to that point.\u00a0 Even so, I truly believe that there are some Hollywood stars using steroids in order to get the physique they need for a role and I\u2019ll definitely be watching for more suspected cases in the future.<\/p>\n Here's a link to Part 1 on this article in case you missed it: Hugh Jackman Steroids Wolverine<\/a>.<\/p>\n Here's some links to discuss Mickey Rourke and Steroids on the EF Forums<\/a>:<\/p>\n Did Hugh Jackman take Steroids for his role in the Wolverine movie?<\/a><\/p>\n The Wrestler Did Mickey Rourke take Steroids?<\/a><\/p>\n The Wrestler - Mickey Rourke on Anabolic Steroids<\/a><\/p>\n And here's some related article on:<\/p>\n WWE World Wrestling Entertainment and Rampant Anabolic Steroid Use<\/a><\/p>\n The Top Muscle Movies of All Time<\/a><\/p>\n Actors on Anabolic Steroids!<\/a><\/p>\n Stallone Steroids and Movie Steroids<\/a><\/p>\n And you get important features like: Oh, and did I mention unrestricted access to the EliteFitness.com Galleries<\/a>? Rourke was one of the biggest stars of the 1980\u2019s after his roles in films like Nine \u00bd Weeks<\/em>, Wild Orchid<\/em>, Angel Heart<\/em>, and Diner<\/em>.\u00a0 None of these films would go down as blockbusters, but they all did fairly well and gave Rourke the onscreen time he needed to display his acting talents and become an 80\u2019s sex symbol as well.\u00a0 Of course this was before he made the decision to go back to boxing in 1991. \u00a0Rourke had boxed throughout his teenage years and chose to go back to the sport at age 39 because he said he had no respect for himself as an actor.<\/p>\n![\"Wrestlers](\"\/\/www.elitefitness.com\/images\/anabolic-steroids\/wrestlers-steroids.jpg\")
Now you can definitely put on 41 pounds in six months time, but it\u2019s most likely not going to be muscle.\u00a0 After all, this is an average of almost two pounds of muscle gained per week and it\u2019s definitely hard to continue this type of gain over a 6 month period naturally.\u00a0 And, when you see Rourke in The Wrestler<\/em>, it\u2019s pretty clear from his cut physique that he wasn\u2019t packing on fat during this time period.<\/p>\n
