Contact a local excavating or construction company and see if they have any used ones they need to dispose of. Due to the large recycling fees they have to pay most times they'll give you one if you pick it up. Check the yellow pages and give some a call.

Not sure what the tire sizing exactly is for them, but the ones I've used in comps were about 6' tall 18" wide and weigh around 660 lbs.

about how many times could you get that over? for someone my size and strength would those dimensions be geared towards more repittions or is it very difficult and only able to be done a couple times

A standard course takes 10-15 flips in comp. Just try it out and see how it goes at first you might not be able to do a lot but you will improve with time and work.

Believe it or not, my friend got one donated to him by a "giant tire service" company. He went in and told them he did all pro-strongman comps all in the tri-state area, he showed them his awards and all that and long story short, they sponsor him now. They gave him 2 tires, a 500-600lbs. one and a 700lbs. one and now when he goes to strongman comps he wears their logos on his shirt and all that . Its actually a pretty good idea to present to a local company, but i bet its very rare to get this opportunity.

Just wanted to share that with you all.

As everyone has said you can pretty much get them free since it costs alot to get rid of them if you can pick one up. 500lb-600lb tires are very very light. It sounds like alot but it really isn't, we had a guy at our gym who is maybe 190 and 6'2 skinny ripped guy and he flipped one that was around 750 a few times and he does no power work.
