Get Ripped without working out - Science News.
I just got the latest issue of science news, it has an in-depth article about the child recently born in Germany who lacks the gene which enables us to produce myostatin. That means he's ripped even without lifting! Here's a snippit, Interesting stuff...
Mr.Universe Jr. Childs Gene Mutation Confirms Protein's Role in Human-muscle Growth "Find the kid a sports agent. Researchers studying an unusually muscular tot have found that he has gene mutations similiar to ones that produce abnormally brawny cattle and mice. Less-sever variations in the same gene may underlie the sucess of some athletes, the scientists speculate, The boy's mutations drupt both copies of the gene encoding a muscle protein called myostatin. Previous studies of the gene in animals had suggested that myostatin restrains muscle growth during development and adult life. But scientists didn't know whether the protein serves the same function in people.... In fact, nutritional supplements that claim to block myostatin are already being sold, primarily to bodybuilders. 'That's all rubbish. We tested [one] and it doesn't work,' warns Schuelke." Both of the parent's of the boy turn out to be athletes, the mother was a sprinter, and the father was a weightlifter. A modified gene delivered through Gene Therapy is already in Human Trials for Muscular Dystrophy patients, hopefully this will one day be available for the general public! http://www.sciencedaily.com/release...21126072241.htm Last edited by Kai Hvatum : 29-Jun-2004 at 12:21 AM. Re Oxavar
Myostatin? what's that again the growth hormone repressor? Seems quite possible to limi/modify its expression using a dietry method dont you think?? eliminate the negative.. latch on to the affirmative .. gotta read up on this one.. says dont mix with other prohormones .. so if you do then what??? |

Re: Get Ripped without working out - Science News.
Myostatin controls muscle atrophy and growth. If it isn't effective at all than your muscles grow very large
. A dietary method would be nice, and a few supplement companies claim to have one, but none of them are actually effective. Gene Therapy would in the end be easier probably, because you could just do one self injection and then that area of your body would have the modified genes until cell apoptosis, which for muscle fibers would take at least a few years. Then you could get HUGE or just REALLY ING BIG by just working out once a week or something crazy like that. Or you could get BIG by not working out and just doing cardio. Added: Also, they already have Gene therapy Mysostatin modified genes ready for humans. It's already in trials for Mucular Dystrophy patients... Man do I wish I could get my hands on a vial of that !!! ![]() |

Re: Get Ripped without working out - Science News.
Oh you just gotta love this:
I am nothing but give me a billion dollars, supermodel girl-friend and oh year I want those muscles. Except I don't want to work for any of that. That's a great attitude. Make sure you quit your job, too, looser. So all you loosers finally found the short-cut, huh? Well I'll stick with lifting heavy-ass weights (even that is a long way to go for me) eating right and achieving my goals the hard way even without juice. I might never look like Coleman, so what? |

Re: Get Ripped without working out - Science News.
Myostatin is a member of a superfamily of related molecules called transforming growth factors beta (TGF-b ). It is also referred to as growth and differentiation factor-8 (GDF-8). Its produced in various places in the body, at the muscle sites and it's also found in the blood.
Here's some information I found: "Studies also demonstrated lack of metabolic effects on myostatin expression in piglets and mice (12, 13). Food restriction in both piglets and mice did not affect myostatin mRNA levels in skeletal muscle. Neither dietary polyunsaturated fatty acids nor exogenous growth hormone administration in growing piglets altered myostatin expression (12). These and other studies strongly suggest that the physiological role of myostatin is mostly associated with prenatal muscle growth where myoblasts are proliferating, differentiating and fusing to form muscle fibers." Looks like a dietary methode wouldn't work at all . Germandude, whatever. I suppose you don't take ANY shortcuts to muscle growth, and you restrict yourself to two pieces of bread with some penut butter every day. Whey Protein is just for those lazy bums who want big gains like yours without having to workout as much....*Sarcasm* I'm going to college, have a 4.0 and workout just like anyone else here. Wanting an advantage like this isn't laziness, it's simply intelligence. You don't get anywhere in life by taking the most inefficient route you can find. I'm just a guy who like you and everyone else here wants to get big and stay healthy doing it. No steriods. |

That wouldn't be a problem with localized gene therapy. |
