The sign of the cross was originally not used as symbol of christianity. Some pagan religion used it, and the catholics adopted it later on as a religious symbol signifying christ on the cross. Though there is no record of this, the apostles supposedly did not promote the crucifix as a symbol of Christs church. As far as we know, there was no real outward symbol or "logo" if you will. though, peter and Paul mention "the cross" many times, they are making reference to the atonement, and not a religious symbol.

Christ's greatest achievement was not his death on the cross, but his eternal ressurection from death. Wihtout a ressurection and overcoming death himself, his suffering for our sins would have no real significance. Because we too would not be able to ressurect and have eternal life, and our repentance would have no reward.

Christs whole message was about eternal life in the ressurection and that he would overcome sin and death so that all may do as well. And thus we provided a way to follow him through repentance, made only possible by his suffering for our sins. Kind of confusing.

Here:

No ressurection = no eternal life

no eternal life = suffering for our sins becoms obsolete and pointless.

Ressurection makes eternal life possible, and we can only achieve eternal life through the grace and mercy Christ, which grace and mercy is obtained through obedience to the principles and ordinances of the gospel of Jesus Christ. "I am the way, the truth, and the life."

It possibly became a symbol due to the use by Emperor Constantine who stopped christian cution and made christianity the official religion of Rome. He turned to christianity after coming to believe that the christian god helped him in battle:

It is said that Constantine, on his march to Rome, saw a luminous cross in the sky. In the night before the battle of Saxa Rubra a vision appeared to him in his sleep, commanding him to inscribe the cross and the motto on the shields of his soldiers. He obe the voice of the vision, and prevailed.

Well the sign of the cross comes from thousands of years ago. To be more exact, around 6,000 years ago. Both of your are right, they have nothing to do with religions; religions were invented by man just a little under 2,000 years ago. Religions are a distorted version of the original real truth, and even though we have many different religions, all of them, or almost all of them are essentially the same.

From the three main books, the bible is the most por. Is the number one book sold in history and the number one stolen book in history. It has been translated and re-written multiple times. With each translation, with each edition, it comes a new interpretation of single phrases. The deformation of the original story is enormous.

But the problem doesn't stop there. The old testament was first written by the Hebrews. What they wrote, is what they knew generation after generation; what they knew, was the knowledge and the truth descending from the Egyptians; these, got their knowledge from Babylonians; and these at the same time, received the power of the truth from the Arcadian and the Assyrians. These last two, received and lived the origianl story with the oldest civilization on Earth: The Sumerians.

From the point of the original story, to the point the Hebrews decided to write the old testament, thousands of years passed; the original story was already transformed and misinterpreted.

And there is even one more problem. The bible, is the story of a period of thousands of years resumed in one book. There are millions of details and missed information that simply cannot fit in one book. Let's put it this way: imagine if you are asked to explain, describe and relate a tour to Iraq in a two line sentence; whatever you are able to write, it will be something senseless to everybody. The bible is something that for many doesn't make sense when they first read it; however, they are told that they have to believe and follow the bible because is the word of God. So how can you believe in something that is not explained or doesn't make sense? well that is called faith in divinity; something invented by man, never imposed by God, or the Gods, or Jesus. The faith Jesus refers to, is not the concept of Faith we understand today.

Every single archeological or scientific study and/or discovery that has been related to religion, has been thrown in a bag called "mythology"; when archeology don't have enough resources to explain an historical event and/or evidence of something scientifically unknown, they throw it in the same bag: "mythology"; every time a religion comes across with something evident but unknown (or deleted, who knows) from their books, it is thrown by them into the same bag: "mythology"

The bible, contains several information referring to locations, ancient cities, temples, that of course nobody paid attention to it because it was impossible to prove if that city existed or not. However, some places have been found roughly 200 years ago. For example the town called Erijh, is named in the bible; the temple was discovered just about 200 hundreds years ago and is dedicated to the Goddess "Ishtar". This town was built at the time the Sumerian culture existed.

The Sumerians are the first civilization on Earth. There is no scientific, or historical information on where they came from, how they evolved so fast; there is no data to track from where they descend. However, with their discovery, dozens of thousands of clay tablets have been recovered from them. They wrote every single detail of their origins, their technology, how they got the information, their purpose on earth. Since these clay tablets were written in Sumerian cuneiform language, everything was thrown again, in the same bag: "mythology" Until a few years ago.

Today, there are close to 200 people in the world that can actually read and translate Sumerian cuneiform language; it has over 400 characters, making it more complex than our languages today.

Between other things, Sumerians were the first ones to have writing, language, mathematics, geometry, farming, astronomical knowledge, measuring units and time.

When archeologists started translating their clay tablets, amazing stories were found, like for example the epic of Gilgameshl the story of a man who survived a great flood on Earth; how he survived and who gave him the instructions on how to survive; the story is remarkable similar to Noah's story from the bible. Also one of the tablets describes how God created humans "in his self image and likeness" exactly the same words the bible use.

This topic is extremely extensive, and I have studied for a long time. However, I wanted to pointy something related to the cross; a sacred symbol that has been used and carried for thousands of generations. The cross is a symbol; a symbol that represent something; and that something is, a planet; the planet from where God, or The Gods, came from. That planet has a special orbit; it orbits almost completely perpendicular to the rest of the planet, crossing the rest of the solar system in the center; hence, the cross. All this is explained in detail in many clay tablets written by Sumerians thousands of years ago, the first civilization on earth.

Here is one of the drawings made by the Sumerians on clay:

This picture represents King Ninurta, who was one of the Kings who ruled the Earth from almost half million years ago. Pay attention to his chest; the sign of the cross, his home planet, and look at the device on his wrist; a watch? communication device?

If you start reading and researching about this issue, you will never stop. It is passionate, it is something that will make you emotional, it will make you even question your own existence. I must admit that I had my doubt before starting this thread because this topic is extremely delicate. 90% of the people or more, follow some sort of religion and they base their lives on religions; on faith; on church; on saints. Telling them the "truth" will make them realize that they have grown in a world full of hidden information. All this historic facts are available, and somehow they are kept in a low profile, which is understandable because of the implications that has for humanity.

I have been studying this for a long time, and acquiring this knowledge, really produce a change in your mind. One of the greatest researchers about this, Mr. Zecharia Sitchin, was asked once why he started studying about this, and he said "It was thanks to my school teacher when he told me: sit there and do not question the Bible"

I was raised Catholic but never followed the religion; however I was always intrigued by all the mysticism that religions involve; symbols, angels, chariots of fire, Gods, ancient knowledge and technology, etc....

If you really wanna get serious about this, I recommend to you the book called "The 12th planet" by Zecharia Sitchin. That book is the first of of his "Earth Chronicles" series. Written in 1976, Mr. Zecharia Sitchin has been researching, studying and translating ancient Sumerian tablets for over 35 years. He is now over 80 and he keeps working; somehow universities and museums have isolated him in some sort of "crazy science fiction old man". However, when asked about all this so strange and shocking knowledge, he is very clear and he says: "I didn't invent this, I am just translating and re-writing what Sumerians wrote 6,000 years ago"

In my own research and investigation, I have found that the real truth was never lost, but it was kept away from the people; just a "few" had access to it and carried it through history, perhaps to rule the world and the society? who knows. After "it was found" inside Salomon's temple, the knights templar were born to protect the priory of Sion. Nobody knows what they found and what was what they were looking for; but the knights templar gave their lives to protect the truth. knights templars had close ties to the masons. These are deductions and speculations, but some believe that after the knights templar were exterminated, the masons orchestrated in revenge the french revolution; they kept gaining power and were able to even create their own country and planned the construction of the biggest empire ever created based on the truth: The United States of America. Novus Ordo Seclorum would be the final step to rule the world, which translates into "The new world order" which is written in the dollar bills as "the great seal" with the pyramid and the eye always watching from above.

But let's not get off topic. This is new. Going back to what I posted before, it is well doented, studied, slowly being translated amd somehow kept now in a bag called "science fiction" lol to each his own...
