when it hits, the pain, don't run, it only embeds it deeper. Like chinese hand cuffs the more you strain the more you get locked up. Abide in it, take a deep breath, and feel it going in your ribs expanding, hold it, and feel the air leaving your lungs as well as your tummy relaxing. This takes your mind off of it for a moment, and cuts off the momentum of the thoughts that follow like train cars. Go into the pain, or the feeling. Then go back out to the self again, realizie the pain is only temporary, and that this is normal. Remember its only transient, and will pass very soon. This lightens things up a bit and allows you to deepen an appreciation for who you are, as well as the relationship, and its end. I know its not much solace, but when my own dark hits, it allows me to still function without running and making things worse by being reactive.
