Some good scenes and action, but wayyyyy too much bull and predictable moments involved.

Verdict : wait for DVD.

The bottom line is: The movie gives you your money's worth. Is it a masterpiece? No. Is it one of the year's best? No. Does Emmerich hammer it together with his elbows from parts obtained from the Used Disaster Movie Store? Yes. But is it about as good as a movie in this genre can be? Yes. No doubt it will inflame fears about our demise on Dec. 21, 2012. I'm worried, too. I expect that to be even worse than Y2K.

It looks like a fun movie, especially if it's on IMAX.

Also, anyone going to this movie expecting an Oscar-worthy (read: typical lame arthouse piece) script is a ing idiot.

How on earth did anyone get laid back then?

Big fluffy hair, skinny bodies, buck teeth... and those were just the guys.

There wasn't a big set of on a single female in that movie. (Well at least the 2/3rds of it I watched.) Bunch of tiny running around looking like they needed a sandwich. Don't get me wrong, I realize today that most of the you see along the beach (in movies and in real life) are enhanced, but still.... decent set of natural are pretty common. Not these tiny that would poke your eye out like the movie showed.

Only reason I watched it was to see how much Ft Lauderdale had changed since then.

Well, this movie called "John Rabe" is kind of the same except it's the who setup a safe zone for the Chinese from the Japanese. Kind of a twist, but similar story line.

I just watched this movie. It's really good. It depicts the time period from before the "official" start of ww2. When I say official I mean official in American textbooks. The war actually started way before that.

Anyways, John Rabe and his cohorts setup a safe zone in China to sauard some of the local citizens against Japanese aggression. It's a really good film for those who are into the world war 2 period. It is in Mandarin Chinese so you might need learn Mandarin or maybe find a version thats translated. I'm sure one exists.
