One of my close friends getting tested for AIDS-- need advice

It’s already been exposed that the big AIDS scare for the general potion in the late 80’s and early 90’s was BS. It was a way to get attention and money for research.

Most people would not care that IV drug users and homosexuals were getting AIDS. They reworked the numbers to make it everyone’s problem and it worked. The numbers were fudged to show an impending epidemic. Funding came quickly.

Heterosexuals, who even have unprotected sex with a person infected with AIDS still has a nearly 0% chance of contracting the disease. If sex is via “high risk”, anal intercourse then the risk are assumed.

Been through that anxiety a couple of times. It sucks, but the actual chances of contracting HIV through heterosexual intercourse- especially as a male- are extremely low. He'll very likely be just fine, but there's nothing you can tell him that's going to make him quit worrying about it. The only thing that can do that for him is the handy dandy little sheet he'll probably get that says "HIV antibodies: negative".

It is a very serious problem facing the whole world, here in America, and more so in underdeveloped countries. Sex with people who you don't know is risky, at least help reduce the risk to you by using a condom. Yeah, that person might not have aids, but what else DO they have that you could take away from your encounter? Well, apparently me and people like rtemple@uplink have gotten so much different sort of ass and still came up clean. I cant remember the last time I even used a condom. Oh, and I just got tested last month by the way, totally clean. Its the same way with a lot of people I know also. We are living proof that the scare tactics of the past were overhyped.

There is nothing much you can say or do . I had to be tested when I was pregnant its like a law or something, I knew that the odds of me being HIV + were one in a million, I still was a nut case until the results came back. Its just human nature. I'll bet he is just fine. Its not like a past partner has contacted him and said they were +. You can't blame his gf for wanting to know. When I was single I would not have intercourse with anyone I was dating until I knew for a fact they had tested neg. Its not worth it.
