There are times you do have to sign, like anytime you don't use US post and use something else like UPS. I had to sign when I mailed myself back stuff from Mexico via Mexican mail. Here's the trick, when you get the package you say to the delivery man Oh that's strange I wasn't expecting a package, and then sign but don't open it for a couple of days so that if they bust the door down you can say it wasn't yours.
Commercial mail should be safer as the don't search much. My mail goes through Chicago and they fuckin' search everything so I don't even bother ordering anymore.
