: : : I just recently got my cortisol levels tested and found out that they are hitting the roof, I realize how this can affect my growing, and recuperation. I have a very high stress level, and seem to loose my patience with the smallest things.( it's genetics, my Dad is psycho as well....) I wanted to know if there was any way to lower these Cortisol levels via relaxation, or anything else. Another bodybuilder at my gym told me to start smoking pot, yet it's not my kind of thing. The only drugs I'll take are cold medicines and the occasional cycle of juice. Any advice boys????

: : Cytadren will lower cortisol levels but I tried this and saw nothing exciting happen. I believe
: : aminogluthimide (cytadren)to not be very good. Phospatidylserine is purportedly to not be effective
: : but I believe this to be due to the fact that there are no cheap sources in order to take effective
: : dosages. I accessed quite a bit from one of the lecithin manufacturers--it was still very expensive
: : but I was able to take 1 gram per day. I can tell you that I saw some considerable results. Whether
: : this was due to cortisol reduction, I cannot tell you because I didnot have a blood test--but in any case
: : it worked. I am not presently on it because of the expense. Even from the manufacterer it cost about $100
: : per month
: :
: : Good Luck
: : Unique

: Just to add a bit to the last post (which was excellent), there are a couple other things that are anti-catabolic (not necessarily anti-cortisol). One of them is codeine, and the other is insulin. The codeine, I believe, fights cortisol. The insulin, on the other hand, protects LBM from the catabolic response that comes about after a workout, and from lack of food (such as in the morning).

- How much Coedine is enough to suppress "high amounts" of cortisol due to high stress levels?
