Alright, I wanted to follow this discussion to see
where it would lead and some good points were brought
up but I have some info. here that will do the job.
My calves are awesome. They weren't always that way.
They were good before but now they're great. I've never
poked them either.
My 300 lb. plus ripped buddy was a mass monger except
in the calves. He sucked there big time. Anyways, I
hadn't seen him for over 6 months and when we got together,
the first thing he did was roll up his cuffs and blow me
away with a calf shot that made my mouth drop and feel
for the implants which he swore were not there.
After much deliberation, he finally told me how he made
them "cows".
I know someone mentioned 100's and that they didn't work
but I know they do. That's what did it for him and myself.
It's the most horrible workout you can do to yourself but
if you're willing to do it, it pays big dividends.
You have to use a light weight just to get through it. We
found negatives just don't work for calves although they
work great for just about everything else on me.
Seated calf raises 100 reps and no break.
Leg press calf raises 100 reps and no break.
100 reps calf raises with you squatting with your butt on
your heels and going up on your toes. No break and do it
again 2 more times.
When the pain gets so intense, you can't go on, you only
stop for seconds to get past that pain and get back to
finishing that 100.
You won't be able to do this even once the first time but
eventually you'll get through it for the 3 times.
Give it time. It won't work overnight but it sure does work.
