well i finally feel good enough to get this topic out to you guys. had lipo on monday. hips outter and inner legs. took off the girdle on tuesday to clean everything up and when i saw how it looked i was very pleased. all the xtra fat that had been there for almost a year is gone. im back to looking more in proportion. anyway as the week progressed and i got more swollen black and blueand painful it still looks good. i finally got off the p ercocet on thurs. so i can heal faster, taking lots of vitamin c as well. only ive had a wicked headache since the recovery room, said that could be side effect. anyway, the worst is over and im glad i had it done. will keep you posted. followup visit on monday.should be looking great in about a month.

<sarcasm>
It's not her fault. Some people don't have the patience to eat, train, and sleep properly. I mean, let's think about it ... the progress you could make in a year can be done in one day! Of course, you won't gain any muscle from it, and it will probably leave scars, and there is the whole pride factor, not to mention that nothing was really learned from it so the chances of gaining the fat back are quite high, etc, etc, etc.

But hey! One day!!

You guys are always sooo much harder on us gals than we are to eachother. I guess it's good to have the balance.

Without offering my congratulations, I WOULD like to thank you for sharing your experience with the other people on this board who may be thinking of this option. You can never have too much input when deciding to undertake elective surgery.

My mother always told me that if you can't say something nice then at least have the good manners to keep your damn mouth shut! Lipo, breast augmentation,a/s use, abdominoplasty etc. are all things that many of us will consider at some point in our quest for making our bodies the best that they can be and it is something that we should be able to openly discuss without taking alot of crap off of anyone! It is her body - her choice. If you choose to question her motives for doing it then it can be done in a civilized tone.
Now, a comment - I have a friend who has had extensive lipo done and she said that when she gains weight it shows up only in her arms and under her chin and 5# looks pretty bad when it is all in those two places. Says it definitely keeps your butt in the gym.

oh puleez. cellulite is the result of having fat around for too long. they are the oldest cells which = free radical damaged fat. lose the damn fat through diet and exercise. lipo is far too extreme imo.

oh btw, i think much of this backlash would have been avoided if JuicyGirl didn't make the comment "congrats on your success!". thats like congratulating someone for injecting synthol into their biceps.

Cellulite is always there in adult women. By that I mean that funny cargo net of connective tissue that stangulates the fat. Whether or not it shows is a matter of the amount of underlying fat as well as the looseness or tightness of the supporting skin. Lipo does not get rid of the cellulite. There are anorexics that have died from not enough bodyfat, but they still had cellulite. Besides, implying that a woman with cellulite just doesn't have their diet and training in order is just like telling a guy he's a slob if he doesn't always have a 6-pack showing. It is NOT HEALTHY for a woman to stay under 12%bf all her life just so her cellulite won't show. A much better reply would have been that BLONDBLDR is still a worthwhile person even if she hadn't had lipo, but instead chose to not be ashamed of the body that is what nature dealt her. Because lipo is a serious option for so many American women, I think it is appropriate for BLOND (or JayeLynn or whoever) to share their experiences.

ms are you implying we should congratulate someone for paying a doctor to have their fat removed?
what happened to hard work and dedication?
the sense of personal achievement.
writing a check takes no effort in my book.
the reason why plastic surgeons are so rich
is because of weak minded fools.people that cant live with them selves because they re so caught up with the way the media says they should look.reading celeb magazines, watching soaps, believing if you dont fit this image youre not a worthy person
i really dont care about the scientific jibberish about why cellulite occurs,to me its a deeper picture than that, society lacking self worth.
i guess in order to have shepards we must have sheep.
so may the cattle graze on..

ps.doesnt it make you mad that you and i bust our ass in the gym and in our dieting everyday ,while some one uses technology to alter theyre body in hours.people like that should be condemned and unwelcomed.

Perhaps congratulations is an innappropriate word. However, I do not see why some people are so quick to hang this woman (or any woman) who has had a cosmetic procedure out to dry. I don't have all of the facts in this particular case, but to answer the question do I feel somehow pissed off that a person opted to have a cosmetic procedure over doing it "the old fasioned way"? NO! My body is my body and that is that. The choices I make are for me alone and I respect the right of others to make choices that are RIGHT FOR THEM. We all have to way the pros and cons of each choice we make and have to deal with the benefits/ramifications of these choices EVERY DAY.

LIPO DOES NOT ELIMINATE CELLULITE!!! It removes pockets of fat not the unsightly bumps that all women seem to fear more than dismemberment. ALL GROWN WOMEN HAVE CELLULITE! Yes - even I have small bumps on the back tops of my hams just below my glutes - OH HORROR!!! The reason these bumps do not show in photographs is: lighting, and posing. Did you ever notice that you never see a model posing in a magazine shot from behind with her pelvis tucked under?....why? because even an eight year old's flawless behind has bumps in this position!!! OK?!

Is any of my hard work negated because AN ENTIRE FOOT OF LOOSE SKIN was removed from my abdomen and the abdominal wall was sutured up to return to the condition it was in BEFORE I had children? True, my abs were flabby before I had kids but that was due to improper diet and training (if you can call it that). Had I not had any children I could've gotten the abs I have today W/O surgery - so did I "cheat"? True, I have an advantage over the generation or two of women before me because I am lucky enough to have this information and technology available to me if I so choose. But you MEN tell me how many crunches I would have to have performed or how I could've altered my diet to achieve the same result W/O surgery AFTER FOUR CHILDREN?...and for the breast surgery....TRUE - I did go one cup size bigger than I was before children (my husband's request), but if you had seen the condition they were in after having carried and nursed FOUR CHILDREN...let's just say that the native women in the National Geographics made me look BAD!!! OK, so now I truly am CHEATING because I HAVE THE BALLS to try to get back the body I had BEFORE children ....and w/A LOT OF HARD WORK and DISCIPLINE actually IMPROVE UPON IT!!!...come on you can say it, "THAT UPPITY BITCH!"....but remember, that is MRS QUEEN BITCH and SMILE when you say it!

...just my humble .02

How do you know she does not work hard, is not dedicated? Are you making that assumption ONLY based on the fact that she opted for cosmetic surgery?

There's a lot of people that think the same way about steroid use you know. (I don't know whether you use them or not, just pointing it out.)

Not all grown women have cellulite. A high percentage (perhaps linked to the fact that the average women has a body fat percentage above 25?), but not all.

Woman A could have the same body fat % as woman B, but still not show as much cellulite. A lot of it is based on genetics, but women who suffer from it can reduce it significantly by reducing body fat AND building muscle (since cellulite thrives on people with too much fat and not enough muscle). The dimple is created in the fat by connective tissue and that's not something you can control totally.

And to answer the rebuttal which compared AS use to lipo/implants/etc, I strongly disagree. When using AS, you still have to have a solid diet, solid training, and solid sleep pattern to maximize gains. With lipo/etc, you pay your money and away you go. A big difference in my opinion.

I'm not trying to tell people what to do, but stuff like this sounds more like hollywood than it does about health and nutrition.

Like my above post implied - people always want the quick fix, but they fail to realize that true appreciation of success will never be obtained without the dedication required to make a difference.

Lipo's not the free-ride you think it is 'spanky'. Any ideas that cosmetic surgery/enhancements cannot be a respectable tool in a deciplined/dedicated (and yes, hard) effort towards health and perfection is just plain ignorance.

bikinimom you are not focusing on the point here.
whats the point of working out if a person can get the same body through technology?
people get calve implants, chest implants lipo
on the abs.where does this bullshit end?
i know once a person get a cosmetic surgery done and theyre pleased with the results they
go back for more.
i see it as having a weak personality, lipo is for losers.
once lipo used to be the only option for obese people.now every chick that cant fit into a size 1 has it done.
youre all brainwashed.

which is the point i want to make.
whats the point of working out if technology can yield better results?

The point that you GUYS are missing here is that breastfeeding and pregnancy does things to some womens bodies that no amount of training, diet and discipline will take care of. My breasts currently look like two sacks hanging on my chest that are only half full and are located closer to my waist than to my chest. My abdomen although the fat is dissappearing has several inches of loose sagging skin that will hang below my crotch when all the fat is gone out of it. There, is that a graphic enough picture for you. Now I ask you - If you were busting your ass in the gym and eating right, the rest of your body was damn near perfect would you not want to fix the problem if you could? We are not talking minor imperfections here. I also do not see a whole lot of difference between altering your body surgically or chemically as with either if you don't do the work to maintain it the fat will come back - maybe not in the same places but lipo is by no means a license to lay on the couch eating bonbons for the rest of your life and remain a size 1.

Thank you Temple for that graphic and ACCURATE description.....I ask again, How many crunches would I have had to have done (and believe me, I did PLENTY) to make and ENTIRE FOOT OF LOOSE SKIN DISAPPEAR? I was a size 0 for God's sake!...yet I could not be comfortable in a one-piece bathing suit because of all of the loose skin that hung out beneath the bottom by the crotch! and yes, I did have a wonderbra. In fact I had several. When I lifted my arms, what was left of my breasts (that were once a D-cup when I was a chubby teen - also got up to a double D when I was nursing my kids - then shrank back down to an A/barely B when I dropped the pregnancy weight between each of my kids. Before I got pregnant with my first I was a size 4. After the first and second children I got back down to a 4 both times before getting pregnant again. After my third and fourth I became a size 2 then 0 - OK?...Is that disciplined enough for ya?) literally would slide out underneath the underwire! So I had a mastopexy (kind of like a reduction) because my skin quality was so poor from all of the stretching and shrinking that the size of the implant that would have been required to properly fill out all of the loose skin would have been so enormous and out of proportion w/the rest of my body that I would have looked like a side-show freak!

I realize that you probably aren't old enough or experienced enough to understand the physical changes that occur to a woman's body from child-bearing and nursing. I would even be so bold as to venture to bet that you would be hard-pressed to find a single man who has watched the physical devastation that his partner's body goes through as a result of carrying and caring for their child who would feel that I had "cheated" or taken the technological way out. I did neither. I earned my six pack, rock hard ass, defined arms, muscular back, hard shapely legs the same way any other woman who has not had a child did - the good old fashioned way - through sweat and sacrifice.

I repeat - THERE IS NO WAY POSSIBLE I OR ANY OTHER WOMAN WHO HAS HAD MORE THAN TWO CHILDREN COULD POSSIBLY HAVE BREASTS AND FLAT STOMACH WITHOUT SOME TYPE OF COSMETIC SURGERY!!! - If there is a way and you can prove it to me - please do. But until you know for a fact that someone who's body was as devastated as mine was from having babies - NOT EATING BONBONS - did it WITHOUT the help of this technology I suggest you check your facts and quit passing judgement and speaking as an authority on a topic with which you have had no experience ...I am brainwashed?....How many children have you carried, given birth, and nursed?

As for becoming "addicted" to cosmetic surgery. I had two procedures performed 3 years ago. I have no need or desire to have anything else done at this time or at any time in the near future. Will I ever again?....I have learned to never say never. Does this make me an addict?

And yes MS - the procedures did cost a few $ but believe it or not I got a "sale". Because my doctor was so impressed with the strength and condition of the underlying abdominal muscles (all those crunches and low bf from dieting and cardio did do me some good after all, huh?) she performed the surgery PRO BONO - I only had to pay for the anesthesia and hospital - as long as I gave her my consent to present my case at a symposium she was giving. The results in my case were DRAMATIC - because of all the hard work I had done all along trying to achieve a flat stomach the "natural way" (which in case you haven't gotten the message yet - would have been IMPOSSIBLE). I got 7 thousand dollars worth of procedure for 2. I guess all of my hard work really did pay off, now didn't it?

I will have lipo by this time next year on my inner thighs. Why? because I WANT a quick fix. I have had them since I was 12 years old
and spent 14 years in gymnastics, taking and teaching. I was nothing but muscle and didn't even have a period for months at a time without a docs script to help me start.
Yet I STILL had fat pockets that never went away on my inner thighs. Can anyone tell me why this is? So I think there is nothing wrong with plastic surgery. No amount of surgery will give you the perfect body(just look at joan rivers) as no one has the same opinion on what the perfect body is but if you feel your damn close and have exhausted all other means to achieve your goals whether it be gear or surgery MORE POWER TO YA!

All women do NOT have cellulite. Cellulite is the result of a heavy fatted diet and poor genes.
I could care less weither a person has lipo or not. I have never seen a serious competitor who had all kinds of cosmetic procedures. Poor skin tone, cellulite, and all the other unsightly problems that some people have, seem to keep them from having the genetics to be a winning competitor.
So, who cares... they will never make it to the big time anyway.

and I could just swear that the majority of fitness competitors have boob jobs or maybe there is just some training secret that we don't have that allows them to extremely low bfp's and still have a full c cup, hmmmm...
Oh well, it is easier to just chalk up my stretch marks, loose skin and saggy boobs to bad genetics instead of childbirth and accept the fact that I will never have a competitve quality physique so I think I will go back to laying on my couch eating like a pig - life wasn't so bad at 185 and it was a hell of a lot less painful.

Heh, heh, Temple....too funny. Let's face it, Ladies, there is definitely two camps on this board related to cosmetic procedures, genetics, childbirth, and AS use. It is fairly obvious after reading this thread that those who are so anti-surgery haven't experienced the wonders of childbirth. What amazes me is not the stances that anyone takes on these subjects as much as the ignorant statements in which people make to back their opinions up.

I mean really, Hardtail, did I read your post correctly? Geeesh, nothing like taking "heart" out of the equation of training. Training intensity and plain 'ol "heart" as we call it make up for tons in any competitive arena. Yes, even genetics, provided you put on the right amount of muscle in all the right places. Will heart make you win the Olympia, probably not, but trying regardless gives you something that not alot of people have--RESPECT.

The idea is to do the best you can do for yourself--to constantly improve and do what makes YOU feel better. Is it cheating? At this point some will argue AS use is cheating? Some that creatine is cheating? Thinking you naysayers wouldn't do it provided you exhausted all other methods, and could afford to---that's a lie.

Blackhaus Girl - you are a YOUNG beautiful woman - YOU GO!....As you saw from my skinny-chick swimwear pics that I was also COMPLETELY VOID of cellulite. I had no trouble achieving an extrememly low body fat percentage YEAR ROUND - BUT though I was lean and hard - I WASN'T GROWING EITHER!...Because I decided to try to get my physique up to "competitive-snuff" I HAD TO EAT A LOT OF GOOD FOOD (and I ate some junk too) and put on some pounds. NOT ALL of the weight was LBM - some was fat - HORROR!!!..and while I did not have rolls I did and still do get bumps on the backs of my thighs when I get up past 13%bf. I am grown and secure enough were this does not bother me - it is a fact of life....to gain mass MOST (not ALL - I apoligize for the blanket statement) women have to put on fat and this fat is commonly seen as cellulite on their backsides. When I cut - I have NO CELLULITE WHATSOEVER - I WOULD NEVER GET UP ON STAGE W/BUMPS ON MY BUTT!

ALSO - has anybody caught the FACT THAT LIPO DOES NOT ELIMINATE CELLULITE?!?!

PS - Temple girl, forget fitness competitors - EVEN the Goddesses of Women's Body Building themselves - RACHEL and CORY HAVE FAKE BOOBS - OK? and correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't they get them AFTER they achieved Pro-status?....so now does this mean that ONLY THE TOP LEVEL COMPETITORS HAVE COSMETIC PROCEDURES?....help me out, I'm confused.

wow guys i didnt know my lipo exp. would have such an effect on everyone. first of all let me just remind everyone. im 41 yrs old, i competed for 10 years and made it to the nationals with the N.A.B.F. federation in 98. i didnt continue because i really didnt see the need anymore. i was doing it for the challenge and determination to see how far i could go. so yes SOURJERK THE NAME REALLY FITSi was sitting on my ass the last 10 yrs eating bonbons. do me a favor if you dont know the person dont be so judgemental. i think ive said this before. after yrs. of dieting up and up and down my body stopped responding as easy. WOULD YOU KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT CONTEST DIETING? i diednt think so. anyway after my last big cycle last year deca primo i put on alot more bulk then i wanted. ive had a good diet for years and last year i offed the cardio a bit to get big. well i gained 15 pds. i put on alot of muscle mass but also unwanted fat i couldnt seem to get rid of. believe me i tried everything. im no novice at this. believe me if i could have avoided this i would have. its major surgury and its been quite uncomfortable. so before you blow your cookies again on someone find out where ther at. oh did i say SOURJERK IS AN APPRPRIATE NAME FOR YOU! sorry your so miserable. but we all have options, and whatever makes you feel better about your body you do have that optionto chose. thank god. peace

thanx bikinimom, some people seem sort of hostile towards plastic surgury. pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeee. get a grip already. training hard eating well good rest and a good heart are all part of a good clean lifestyle, which helps our bodies look good, but, sometimes ya need alittle help from your friends. ha ha good luck to you i know your working hard. i cant wait to get back int the gym. cant do legs for a couple of weeks, but, i think next week ill start upper body. oh god it feels like im starting all over ha .

How do you find a qualified plastic surgeon? I think the closest for me would probably be at least a 6 hour drive. Also how long are you in the hospital with the abdominoplasty and the boob job? Oh horrors - I am doing it as soon as I have the $$ and the rest of the body to go with it and once I start I might not stop, I might have lipo and I might have a facelift and I might have collagen injections and you know, now that I think about it I really don't like my nose and this really isn't open to discussion unless you are supportive because like I said before -IT IS MY BODY! BTW - BBldr, how are you feeling, must be pretty good if you are already thinking about hitting the gym.

Not sure if you all have noticed, but I've not posted to this thread. Oh, I've been reading it - some entertaining comments to say the least.

So I figured I'd chime in at what appears to be the tail end and give my whopping .02

I work smarter, not harder. If something is easy, it works, WTF, why not? Technology is what makes body builders PERIOD. Not one person here can do, or be, like they want with out science and bucking mother nature. Simple hard work and dedication is not the whole pie. Yes, it is a big slice. But by and large it will only get you so far. More often I see it making one pissed off or depressed because the results are not what is expected.

Again and again and again I see the same argument being "a degree of acceptance" or "degrees of usage". Remember the natural vs. AS using argument on MS's thread a few days ago? People, you must get rid of this delusional mind set that limits the physical condition. We humans use tools. This is what makes use unique the animal kingdom. 100 years ago the automobile was considered a dangers tool of the devil - made by man! And that any self respecting person would and should ride a horse. This SAME argument is still hear today it seems, and I guess it always will be. Why are we still making moral judgement about this kind of thing? A person is neither bad or good for wishing to improve his or her physical state. How in good faith can anyone say this???

We all know or have used SO MANY aids in our everyday lives to make use feel better, enjoy the day to day experience. Braces, getting your hair “styled”, tattoos, body piercing, shaving, using the latest protein drinks, the list goes on and on. As a very young child I had to have BOTH of my legs broken an put into a caste for several months as they were severally miss aligned. Docs said I would never be able to run or play in any sports. Well thank GOD (and I do on a fairly consistent basis) my Dad found a progressive surgeon and a way to IMPROVE them. In this case make them normal. To this day I have NEVER had any problems with my knees, hips or ankles. Well, I did play football and got a sprain once or twice.

I say, “Thank you for technology”. Did I “cheat”? Would I have made my situation better just by hard work? Hell no. I want technology, I crave for technology. I wait for the day to have zero gravity sex.... WHOooo HOOOooooo!!!

I Want It All!!
If I had the money, I'd have every single flaw taken care of! Hell, I'd have stuff I didn't even need!
Arnold did not have calf implants. He stated many times that he had to hammer them, cause they were not great, but he did have his jaw done. (That was a long time after he was done competing).
Also, the body builder's who have had augmentations, had them after retireing. I'll take it, yesterday!!

There you go! There is actually someone on here WORSE THAN ME! I would NEVER have any lipo or breast implants to change my looks nor plastic surgery done. And here is someone who is bragging about having LIPO done! WTF???? At least I am taking the time to try and change my body naturally not overnight by some doctor and his knife, or suction tubes!!

Ah, it good to have you back posting D, And by the way, how old are you??? Will you still say this when you are in your 40's? 50's? Once you get your body the way you think you want it now, you will want more - want it better. You will see the flaws that some how didn't matter when you were 140+ pounds and so out of shape a squat was defined as how one sits on the can.... The mind will guide your eyes to areas seldom noticed. Suggest improvements you would have never considered. And demand perfection in ways you think outrageous....

It only takes time D, it only takes time.

Well, it seems like im repeating myself over and over. DLADY, DO YOU KNOW HOW TO READ? ive already said that i have been training over 10 YES 10 YEARS! Ive competed in shows for about 5 yrs or so. YOU wouldnt know about sacrafice dieting down, training twice a day, working your mind and body into a work of art,and then the strain of judges, only to either win or lose and then be told to do it all over again. But better next time. So please, if you dont know what your talking about be quiet..........shssssssss just concentrate on getting that body of your in shape. i know my body like nobody else and i knew when it was time for any adjustments i made. Now go lift a weight or something! lol

In defense of myself here I was just stating that ME personally would NEVER have those unecessary procedures made to my body. I dont care if I am 50 yrs old and Have cellulite everywhere I would not do that after just seeing the way they do those things!
All the more power to you gals who do have it done.

I've also seen other operations and, hell, it's all fricking horrid.

Hell, I say go for it. There gets to be a point when that last little bit just doesnt want to come off.
Lipo isnt so bad... some people use DNP, couldnt we say "Oh sure, youll use rat poison to boost your body temperature dangerously high because you dont want to diet!" Nah, it isnt like that...
Personally, ALL I care about is my apperance. I dont care about how much weight I lift, and to be honest, it isnt for my health either. Its purely for superficial reasons.
If you want to look good, you do what needs to be done! What about breast implants, is that cheating, too? Hell no. If you want them, get them... if it makes you feel good about yourself, go for it.
"Naturals" will say that those of us who use AS "cheat".
We who use AS will say that people who use Synthol "cheat".
People who use synthol might say "at least I didnt get calf or tricep implants, those guys CHEAT"
The guys who get implants might think people who get lipo "cheat" (Hey, I might have calf implants, but at least I diet my fat away!)
So y'know, where does it end?
Or is it really none of anyones business but the person who makes that choice? And if they want to share their results with like-minded individuals, good for them! So cmon blondbldr, lets see some before and afters... or even just afters.

Blondbldr,

I have to say that Congratulations are definatley in order. I'm glad that you are feeling well during your post operative period. I used to work for a group of plastic surgeons. Although Lipo wasn't the plastic surgery I had. I'm all in favor of it. Genentically we can only do so much. Sometimes the only way to rid your body of unwanted fat is to have it surgically removed. You don't have to live with it. Of course you always want to do all you can to take the weight off prior to surgery. But sometimes it just isn't enough.

Make sure you follow all of the doctors orders. I know that girdle isn't fun to wear but you gotta do it. Stay on your healthy diet and excersice program. You should do great!

Best of Luck

Have fun with your new body! You deserve it!!
