Here's another interesting study which is not applicable to your average bodybuilder (who supposedly eats many small, well balanced meals throughout the day). But for all of you who have not yet seen the light, this study indicates it might not be great for you to have a BIG breakfast.

Is advice for breakfast consumption justified? Results from a short-term dietary and metabolic experiment in young healthy men

Short-term (2 weeks) effects of the consumption of a high-energy (700 kcal)) or low-energy (100 kcal)) breakfast on dietary patterns, blood variables and energy expenditure were compared in ten free-living healthy young men in a crossover study.
During the high-energy breakfast, total energy intake was increased, the intake of protein and lipids was unchanged but the intake of carbohydrates was increased. Thus, 48% of energy came from carbohydrates in the high-energy breakfast compared with 42% in the low-energy breakfast. Excluding breakfast, the macronutrient composition of the diet remained identical in the two situations. After the high-energy breakfast, fasting serum triacylglycerol concentration was higher and HDL-cholesterol concentration was
lower than after the low-energy breakfast (NOT GOOD). A high glycaemic response was observed in the morning after the high-energy breakfast period (NOT GOOD), while there was a peak of free fatty acids after the low-energy breakfast (IN OTHER WORDS THEY WERE BURNING MORE FAT). The high-energy breakfast induced a strong inhibition of fat oxidation throughout the day (IN OTHER WORDS THEY WERE LESS LIKELY TO BURN FAT). Although long-term adaptation to a high-energy breakfast cannot be excluded, the high-energy breakfast in this study did not appear to be favourable to health. Our results do not support the current advice to consume more energy at breakfast.

So I can assume that consuming a moderate energy bkfst is right in line?? All of my meals are fairly equal in calorie value - bkfst does have the most carbs though. If I ate only 100cals at bkfst (I used to try) I'd be hungry before I left for work!

My preference for breakfast:

Bob Evan's

2-servings turkey breast grilled
blueberry pancakes with apple berry topping (hold the whipped cream)
side of cottage cheese
side of apple sauce
glazed cinnamon roll
lots of coffee

all followed by a nap. Then I start thinking about lunch.

My "Filler Up" breakfast:

One 12 oz chicken fried steak (with extra milk gravy of course), three eggs over easy, hashbrowns, two slices of sourdough bread, and a large stack of pancakes, four cups of coffee, one glass of water, one glass of juice.

Stats:
Protein - more than you can use in three hours
Carbs - a fucking lot!
Fat - well, with real butter, and oil for the hashbrowns and steak, it's a tasty thing is all I can say.
Total cals - Right around 2000

Oh my, Warlobo, that does sound yummy. Thanks for posting that by the way. Ya know that I am a closet carb nut at night. I'm headed to the kitchen right now, dammit. j/k

My fav diet breakfast: half a dozen egg whites mixed with oatmeal and wheat germ to make pancakes. Top with sliced bananas and low sugar rasberry jam.

Fav cheat breakfast: Biscuits with sausage gravy and grits with gobs of butter!
